The Planetary Gears are out of this world! The PhyXTGears are very excited to launch our first FIRST Lego League (FLL) team in our home at the Madjax Maker’s Force in downtown Muncie. The Planetary Gears kicked off their season August twenty-ninth with several interested parents and students. The new FLL team will build a Lego robot to perform tasks and complete a themed game as directed by FIRST. The Lego League program is for fourth through eighth grade students who are interested in technology, engineering, and programming. Games they play vary from year to year, keeping students on their toes learning to communicate and program a robot. This year’s theme is about using water responsibly. The Planetary Gears will have PhyXTGears students as their student mentors as well.
In other news, PhyXTGears will host an open house in their shop in Madjax on Sept. 19 from 6 to 8 p.m. for high school students interested in becoming a student or adults interested in becoming a mentor on the team. The team is in need of animation, media, and woodworking mentors especially. The team has a variety of sub-teams such as mechanical, woodworking, programming, media, animation, presentation, fundraising, and documentation. If you’re interested, feel free to drop by and see us at the Madjax’s Maker’s Force in Muncie!
