What do cars, jobs in America, and the PhyXTGears have in common? We’re all moving! The robotics team 1720, Muncie Delaware Robotics, is moving out of the Suzanne Gresham Center and into the Madjax maker space in downtown Muncie. While we are excited about the move, we are a little saddened to leave our old home. We have enjoyed our time in the Suzanne Gresham Center, making memories here with the team throughout the ages. Meridian Health Services has been one of our team’s biggest sponsors. Over the course of the past eight years, Meridian Health Services has provided our team with a space and wifi connection that has served our purposes well. During our time in the Suzanne Gresham Center, we have built many robots and special projects, seen many good team members graduate, and in 2015 we even built a robot that went to the world competition in St. Louis, Missouri.
We are pleased that our team has grown to almost thirty students in addition to our numerous mentors, but this also means our team has grown too large for our space in the Suzanne Gresham Center. Although we are sad to have to move out of the space, the memories will stick with us long after we move into our new facility. Our team has experienced eight years of wonderful support and sponsorship from Meridian Health Services, and we hope it continues long into the future.
On another positive note, our team’s growth allows us new opportunities to plant the FIRST seed and spread the word about robotics throughout Delaware County and surrounding areas. The PhyXTGears is looking forward to kickoff and uncovering the mystery game, Steamworks! Are you looking for a way to get involved with the team? Try joining the team or becoming a sponsor for more information!
